What is IPL?
IPL (intense pulsed light) uses light energy to target certain skin concerns.
So what does IPL treat?
IPL is the perfect treatment for rosacea, high colour, flushing, broken veins, freckles, pigmentation and scarring- surgical /trauma or acne and for skin rejuvenation including the fcce, and body.
Spider veins on the legs, Campbell morgan spots - little red blood vessels on the body can be treated.
IPL is used for hair reduction once the hair is brown, blonde/grey/white hair is not suitable unfortunately.
With any IPL treatment you get a ‘free’ skin rejuvenation as it helps to produce collagen in your skin. IPL will leave you with an even skin tone and decrease wrinkles.
Can IPL be used on the body and not just the face?
Yes it can.
What does IPL feel like?
IPL feels like a small elastic band flicking off your skin but it is well tolerated and over instantly.
Who is not suitable for IPL treatment?
IPL is not suitable on newly tanned skin or darker skin tones. Darker skin tones have more melanin so therefore at a high risk of complications and less chance of achieving a result.
What is the downtime with IPL?
Normally there is minimal to no downtime.
Can I wear make up after?
Yes.
Medical Grade Micro Needling
What is medical grade micro needling?
Micro needling is known as collagen induction therapy. It is a safe treatment that involves the body’s own healing process to help prevent ageing(fine lines/wrinkles), treat uneven skin tone, acne scarring, enlarged pores and scarring on the body.
Micro needling is the use of very small needles to repeatedly penetrate the layers of the skin in order to induce the wound healing process and stimulating collagen production to plump up the skin, reduce wrinkles and scarring.
D6Derma uses SkinPen Precision which is the only medical grade and FDA approved needling pen available on the market at present.
Micro needling can be done on all skin types, light to dark. The skin is numbed before this process ensuring maximum comfort.
What to expect from your SkinPen Precision micro needling procedure?
A comfortable experience with the use of topical numbing cream applied on the area being treated with the highest of standards of care.
How long will the treatment take?
Treatment time is approx 50 mins in total, 25 minutes for cream to numb the skin and then 25 minutes of micro needling treatment.
How long is the downtime?
There is minimal downtime. The skin will be red post procedure like a sunburn, then possibly mildly pink the next day but makeup can be worn. Some patients experience slight itching of the skin but post procedure care packs are given to help calm the skin and minimise irritation/redness.
When will the results be noticeable?
It depends on what is being treated but normally 3-4 weeks post the first treatment results are noticeable. Your skin will have beautiful lasting natural results.
How many treatments are recommended?
Custom treatment plans are produced for each patient reflecting each case’s specific needs. By way of guidance, three treatments are recommended for anti ageing skin and six treatments for acne scarring. All treatments should be four to six weeks apart.
What areas can be treated with SkinPen Precision?
Effective on all body parts including face, neck and decolletage. SkinPen can treat scarring on the body, any trauma caused by operations, c-sections and self harm scars. Stretch marks respond very well to micro needling treatment. Unfortunately keloid scarring can not be treated.
Medical micro needling can be performed on any skin type on the Fitzpatrick scale.
Why pick SkinPen Precision for micro needling over other needling pens?
SkinPen Precision is FDA Approved and Globally ISO and BSI accredited unlike any other needling pen on the market. Individual patient safety treatment packs with disposable needles are used for each patient so there is absolutely no risk of cross contamination between patients to give complete peace of mind. Post treatment care packs are given to all patients when leaving the clinic. It has the gold standard of micro needling.
Exosomes
What are exosomes?
Exosomes are a natural by-product of cells. Exosomes offer significant advantages in skincare due to their rich content
of proteins , lipids and various molecules that actively contribute to skin healing, hydration and protection.
What type of exosomes do you use in D6derma?
In d6derma we use Purasomes. They are unique multi-patented anti ageing, skin glowing formulations with organic colostrum (cows milk) derived exosomes, growth factors and biologically active elements working synergistically by elevating human body’s natural healing response and resetting cellular performance to the level of younger age.
How do exosomes work?
The exosomes amplify collagen production by triggering the formation of fibroblasts in the dermis which is essential for new ce
growth. Therefore dramatically improving skin structure, its strength, and elasticity. Exosomes promote cell turnover, accelerate blood vessel formation, facilitate skin healing and decrease inflammation which is a major contributor to skin aging.
What do exosomes treat?
Skin rejuvenation.
Scarring both acne and trauma.
Pigmentation
Exosomes are a combination treatment with microneedling.
What is the downtime?
It is the same as microneedling, approximately 12-24 hours.
Polynucleotides
What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are naturally derived molecules that play a crucial role in stimulating cellular activity , promoting collagen production and facilitating skin rejuvenation. These bio-stimulators work at a cellular level by activating specific receptors on fibroblast cells within the tissues. They have been used in medicine for wound healing for years.
What do polynucleotides treat?
They are the perfect treatment for the under eye area for dark circles and crepey wrinkled skin. They reduce dark circles and firm up the skin by increasing collagen production. They reduce inflammation so are great for scarring.
Can you use polynucleotides on other areas of the face?
Yes, they can be used all over the face, neck, chest and hands.
Is the treatment sore?
No, they are tiny injections and they do not hurt, numbing cream is used.
What is the downtime?
If injected under the eye area, you will be puffy under the eyes for about 24-48 hours but it will settle. If microneedling into the skin, the downtime is less. You will be a little red the next day.
Who can not be treated with polynucleotides?
If you have an allergy to salmon / trout.
Platelet Rich Plasma
What is platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment?
Platelet Rich Plasma also known as Stem Cell Therapy or the PRP Vampire Facelift is an innovative non-surgical treatment for skin rejuvenation using platelet rich plasma from your own blood.
PRP encourages skin rejuvenation by stimulating the growth of collagen in your skin and the repairing of cells therefore improving blood supply to the skin cells to promote healthier and younger looking skin.
PRP can either be injected back into areas of your skin (face /eyes /neck /hands) that need to be treated or the plasma can be used as a topical serum combined with medical grade micro needling to penetrate deep into the skin for maximum absorbency.
PRP treatment visibly reduces lines and wrinkles and improves tired dull skin, photo damaged skin, dehydrated skin, dark spots and capillaries, scarring from trauma or acne.
It’s benefits include much improved skin texture, tone and pigmentation. PRP rebuilds the skin’s cells within the dermal layer.
PRP has been used for years as a very effective treatment in various medical and surgical procedures.
PRP is a very safe treatment for patients. The procedure is sterile, performed by a nurse and is using your own blood so you are not using any foreign products so there is minimal risk with doing this treatment.
What to expect from your PRP procedure?
Numbing cream is applied to the area that will be treated. A small amount (approx 10ml) of patient blood is taken in the clinic during your appointment. Blood is treated in a medical centrifuge to separate red blood cells from plasma serum (yellow in colour).
The plasma (PRP) is then either injected back into areas of skin that need to be treated or the plasma can be used as a topical serum combined with medical grade micro needling to penetrate deep into the skin for maximum absorption.
Is PRP a safe procedure?
PRP is a very safe treatment for patients. The procedure is sterile, uses patients’ own blood i.e. no foreign products and there is minimal risk associated with the procedure.
PRP has been used for years as a very effective treatment in various medical and surgical procedures to encourage healing and cell growth for damaged tissues.
Why is PRP so beneficial for the skin?
Naturally occurring growth factors in the PRP optimally benefit the skin's functions when they are penetrated back into the skin therefore stimulating the production of collagen and elastin while encouraging hydration and antioxidant properties within the skin.

What can PRP treat?
Tired skin, photo damaged skin, dehydrated skin, dark spots and capillaries, scarring from trauma or acne.
During PRP treatment will I look like I’ve been in a horror movie?
No! The PRP is yellow colour as the blood has been separated. The red blood cells are not used.
How long is the downtime with PRP?
Depending on the patient and their skin type people can have a downtime from 12-48 hours.
Normally the longest downtime is associated with injections around the eye area (max 48 hours).
Downtime varies depending on whether PRP is injected or used with medical grade micro needling.
With medical grade micro needling the healing process is normally quicker than without PRP due to the benefits of the growth factors in the plasma.
During your consultation the nurse will discuss all the available options with you.
Simply how does PRP work?
PRP rebuilds the skin’s cells from within the dermal layer either through injection techniques or via medical grade micro needling increasing the skin’s function by stimulating production of collagen and elastin while encouraging hydration and antioxidant properties within the skin.
When are the results visible?
Results can be seen within approximately four weeks post treatment. The renewal process is continuous for about three months after the procedure and the overall effects can last for up to a year.
How many treatments are recommended?
Again it depends on what is being treated, a plan will be made with the nurse. All treatments should be four-six weeks apart.
Chemical Peels
What is a chemical peel?
Chemical peels is a technique used to improved the skin’s tone and texture. The peels loosen the connections between dead skin cells by inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. The chemical peels used are light-medium depth, and are formulated to reduce irritation and redness.
Will chemical peels cause unsightly redness and peeling, like Samantha in that Sex and the City episode?
No. Clients sometimes expect to peel throughout the complete treated area. Some people may peel post treatment on days three-five just similar peeling after a tan. In some cases, exfoliation occurs on a cellular level and is not apparent to the naked eye. The exfoliation a client will experience varies depending on the peel strength and individual skin profile.
How long is the downtime?
Minimal downtime. Depending on the peel strength but skin may be red/pink post peel for a few hours.
What can be expected right after a chemical peel?
The skin is initially tender and more sun-sensitive as the epidermis renews itself. After peeling takes its course (usually three-five days after treatment), fresh new radiant skin emerges.
Treatment Masks
What is a treatment mask used for?
Treatment masks are used to intensely hydrate and nourish the skin by infusing antioxidants and moisture binding ingredients resulting in plump, soft skin and a dewy complexion. The result is a reduction in the appearance of blemishes and excess oil, while soothing and maintaining hydration.
How long is the downtime?
Minimal downtime if any.
